so if u had +2 str on ur belt u can max have 14 str?
Capped at some value means you can have capped value and no more. No matter what you have.

Or, to make it much simpler, you can have 12 and no more.

You could continue past the cap to increase your companion's stats if you were really determined, correct?
Level Caps and Stats Caps are very different things. The current Level Cap is 100, essentially unlimited given the limits of the human life span. Trait caps are at 12, so after maxing a trait, a Character would have to spend trait points on other traits.

It takes 78 trait points to have a single trait reach a "12" setting, and 468 trait points foo all six traits to reach the "12" setting---essentially impossible.

In theory one could keep getting higher levels so that one's Companion got higher levels, and thus higher traits, but Companions get a lot less out of a level gain that the main Character and sooner or later, the level gains become rather moot.

Summary: Trait Caps and Level Caps are different things.

Just to address the original point: Exiled Kingdoms system is more alike to D&D than to a MMORPG. There will never be content targeted at level 30 or 40, future content in updates or expansions will be aimed at level 20 or maybe a few levels above that.

In other words, feel free to grind to level 25+ but don't say the game asked you to! ;)

Incidentally, in next update higher level monsters will yield higher XP and there will be areas where they are plentiful, so getting to 20 might be much more doable than before.
