Hello
@DavidBVal,
Good day to you!
You mentioned in earlier messages that one of the advantages of 3D is ease of development. I’ve read the same argument from Xenonauts 2 devs as well, who moved from 2D to 3D for their sequel
I’m a dev but not a game dev, it sounds counterintuitive to me. Since you have experience with both 2D and 3D, I hoped you would have an insight. Is 3D easier because there’s a lack of good engines/tools for 2D? I imagined that one may just bake 3D assets into 2D sprites without losing graphics, and theoretically (isometric) 2D game can look almost the same as 3D. For example, when I played Xenonauts 1, it took me quite a while to realise that it’s all 2D
Also, with recent advancements in AI, do you think images/textures generating will revolutionise 2D development?
