Hirge won't trigger Ancient Seal!

I want to go into the Forbidden Pit of Mount Orogg. To open it, I need to complete Hirge's quest "Ancient Seal". So I got Hirge just for that, but she won't trigger the quest!

I've been traveling with Hirge and doing other quests for a while now, but this is taking way too long, it's getting ridiculous. My fiance Grissenda is waiting for me in Kingsbridge! I can't make her wait much longer, or she'll ask for a divorce before we're even married!!!

What am I missing?
I just need Hirge to tell me about the quest Ancient Seal. I promised my sweet Grissenda I'd take her see the shadows of Orogg. Help!!!

PS: I haven't done "Three versus eleven" with Hirge. Is that why? Do I need to do this quest before Ancient Seal?

Have you gone to any big city yet? Is your character at least level 13 yet? Also, the gate won't open for you if you bring another companion until you finish the quest, even if the quest has started.
