So I been playin EK for years now and I just wanted to share my super unorthodox mage build so the base of the build is a melee mage with as many armor points as you can stack on a mage that combined with max mage armor you’ll have warrior grade armor points usually anywhere between the late 30s to mid 40s in armor your advanced skills are gonna consist of body development, deathward, massive criticals, combustion and spiritward there are 2 optional skills you can inquire to which are lighting bolt and or mage barrier all tho mage barrier makes melee combat with a mage kinda cheesy bc of the push back THIS BUILD HAS NO POINTS IN WAND MASTERY AND OR STAFF MASTERY it’s a completely melee mage you can take wand as a secondary weapon if you choose tho the main weapon for this is the devour stinger bc of the paralysis effect on it combine that with mage barrier and lighting bolt and you have a suuuuppper cheese stun/paralysis build now time for the trait point:

Str:3
End:4
Agility:as many point as you can dump in it after your done getting points for the other categories
Awareness:0
Int:0
Per:7

Soon after Arcane Blade was added, the melee mage builds were explored in depth, including the Zero / Low INT builds (playfully called Grunk builds).

Note, that re-setting a character in the late game is very different from needing to play the build from scracth.

No b
Int 0? Per 7?
It should be other way around?
No Because you want high death resistance because the end game head gear for this build is the broken crown of tol to make up for less mana because it’s a low INT mage build

What’s special about this build tho is the stun ability bc you literally have 3 ways to stun/paraylis your foes, mage barrier, devour stinger and lighting bolt

Btw guys I used no companions at all thru the whole play thru I was just a solo run this build takes a long time to get powerful making it from scratch and not just resetting skill points at the end of the game

I am skeptical. How can a 0 INT mage learn any spells at all? Same for using scrolls where you have to have some intelligence. If you want a 'tank', just make it a fighter, or a cleric since your character has high wisdom.

Is a Grunk mage build bro INT is pretty much useless because that’s not the point of the build its a 0 INT build bc your mainly trying to get your Per up for death resistance because your end game head gear is gonna be the crown of Tol to compensate for lower mana remember this is a Melee mage

You can get pretty close to the magical 178 death resistance with kit and skills

12 Nivarnan Cloak 10 Undermother's Hide 15 Sandal's of the Saint 15 Blessed Necklace/Purple Medallion 30 Ring of Unlife 40 Greater Ring of Death Ward 36 Death Ward III 12 Petrified Wood Buckler 12 +10 +15 +15 +30 +40 +36+ +12 = 170

So a couple of points of PER for that, and a bit more if you have specific things you want to swap out, speaking of which what kit you think must be swapped out for a melee mage?

Yes but this build is a high base armor build meaning you wanna seek out the most beefy armor you can with a mage and some of those armor pieces don’t have death resistance so you gotta compensate with PER points it’s a high armor high death resistance melee mage build pretty much

There's no Hand or Leg in there, so you can have Thuriam/Explorder and Black Silk, and of course no Head options because of Crown. And I already factored in Shield over Greater Black Orb.

That leaves Body and Boots. That build has Undermother's Hide, nothing stronger for a Mage. You could gain one point of Armor for swapping the Sandals for Ironfoot Boots (and gain Stability) for 3 full points of Per. At the very least it's a debatable tradeoff.
