Great Manticore

Horse-size poisonous hybrid chimera Magical Creature.

Background

An oversized hybrid creature with a human-like head on top of a winged feline body coated in cinnabar-red fur. They have three rows of teeth, with feet and claws like lions. Most famously they have a huge scorpion-like tail with a deadly sting.

Somehow this manticore got hold of a Black Shard making it larger, and much more deadly then normal ones. It wanders from from native habitats on its own crazed quest of destruction.

The Great Manticore and the Green Dragon are the only repeat source for the Petrified Wood Buckler and Lionskin Leggings. Each of these are desirable mid/late game items for spellcasters and rogues.
