Hobgoblins

Hobgoblins, the less common of the Goblinkind, are stout-but-sturdy humanoids found in the mountains and the ice caverns of the Varsilian north. They do not pester the humans of the south, and the few explorers to encounter them very rarely leave, so they are not considered a threat by the kingdom. Indeed few even know of their existence.

Hobgoblins might also have been called ice goblins, for they patrol wintry mountains and make lairs in frosty caverns. Resistant, but not immune, to cold, it is perhaps the frigid conditions that temper their accelerated aging, permitting them to grow old in the cold, becoming stronger, wiser, and better trained. And it does give their skin a beautiful teal hue. They do not seek novelty, only taking roles of warrior or shaman, but all are expert craftsmen and have taken to smithing master armor made from Primal Ice. They do not tame Ice Wolves or their kin, but they do have mutual respect and understanding in the bleak cold.

Goblinkind are obsessed with all aspects of Dragonkind, but hobgoblins devotedly worship white dragons whilst also helping in the protection of fledgling wyverns.

As an aside, one of the tangible benefits of cleaning away the excrement of Ice Drakes, which they use in the production of Primal Ice armor, is occasionally one of them will deposit a sapphire... a byproduct of their curious digestive system.

Note that for the purpose of the Goblin kill-count, Hobgoblins are also full Goblins.

Dragon Priest

The four slumbering gods of Bappasalar Cave have imbued these cold hobgoblins with incredible power via their collective divine presence, they are far stronger than any mere Ice Shaman. Feasting on nothing except the living ice excreted by the white dragon Fevresee their paralysis magic has become supreme. Just as hobgoblins also protect the wyverns of the northern ranges, so too do they attend the green dragon Syxadris faithfully and sincerely.

Hobgoblin

The large bulk of the hobgoblin forces, these blue-green warriors are stronger than any common Goblin Sergeant. They dedicate their long, cold, hard lives to the study of combat, to the smithing and production of Primal Ice armor, and most especially of all, to the protection of their revered Ice Drakes.

Even so, some venture out of their cave to the mountains, to keep a watchful and devoted eye out for the Wyverns of the area, especially the fledgling whelps.
