“I have a bone to pick regarding skeletons.”
― Loreseeker Bestiary
In some ways zombies and skeletons are quite similar, they are each reanimated human remains, one of a cadaver, the other primarily of bone though some remnant rotted flesh might remain. Each type has weak drone-like monsters seeking raw murder upon the living, but also stronger examples showing skills and abilities from former lives. But where they differ is the type of reanimation magic used upon them, and the resulting differences of strengths and weaknesses.
Skeletons are spirits reinfesting remains that they puppeteer. This brings back superior martial skills, even magical ones: the more powerful skeleton warriors and invokers start to approach the strength of dreaded liches. They are highly resistant to poison and death magic, but otherwise have few special elemental resistances or vulnerabilities. The exceptions are the Mercian Kings, their powers in life give them strong and unique powers in undeath.
Skeletons are members of The Undead and thus susceptible to Holy Weapons, they also add to number of killed Undead (for in-game statistics).
The Flaming Dragoons were elite imperial order, sworn brothers under fire, blood and honor, that set the battlefield aflame using burning oil, then walked themselves into the flames, unharmed.
Highly vulnerable to cold damage.
