Trolls

And not very nice plants at that.

Trolls are an animated mass of cursed flesh. They take a hominid form and employ weapons, even mimic other humanoid behaviour, and develop sense of sight and smell. But cutting though them, you won't find organs or even bones, just more green, dense flesh, similar to frozen meat in hardness. As soon as it's damaged, it begins to regrow and melts together again.
― Loremaster DavidBVal

Trolls are aberrant humanoids whose home is the Trollfens where they dwell amongst eerie swamps and marshes infested by scavenger swamp rats. Almost all wield a huge club that deals vast amounts of damage and are able to perform a stun attack which risks knocking back and incapacitating the player for a few seconds giving time for even more attacks. They also possess a high health and armor which grants them great survivability, again giving them more chance to deal lots of damage. Dangerous enough alone, trolls are commonly found close together, sometimes in small groups around campfires. To increase the danger even further, their shaman can rapidly heal entire groups of trolls whilst they throw significant bolts of elemental lightning at the player.

To top this all off trolls are extraordinarily difficult creatures to kill, they must be finished using a weapon or effect that deals fire damage. Otherwise they will simply regenerate after incapacitation allowing them to rise again at full health and fight again as fresh. This means the last hit to connect must deal at least some portion as fire damage. Note this can include off-hand weapons that deal fire damage even if the primary weapon does not deal it. Thus it is not just the case they are vulnerable to fire it is that they are ultimately immune to everything that is NOT fire.

Enraged Troll

Troll red.png

An insanely overpowered and aggressive troll, magically empowered by legendary Mighty Gauntlets artefacts. Even in their current state of disrepair they are supremely formidable and well worth the effort of any adventurer capable of claiming them.

King Gurguth

Troll.png
Now trolls have learned to crudely emulate our daily basic tasks,
perhaps it is time to teach their King how to appreciate musical theatre?
― Loreseeker Notes

The Ancient King of the Trolls, Gurguth is the strongest of these strange and potent aberrations. Wielding the heaviest and most mighty weapon of Imperial steel this side of the Ashen Wastes, and grasping an old Imperial towershield like a bucker, he makes for a tavern-worthy tale for anyone strong enough to succeed against him.

Slaying King Gurguth is an exciting adventure worthy of the stage.

Troll King

Troll.png

With King Gurguth slain and razed, a new troll must rise to dwell in the sacred rot of the swamp. The closest Troll Marauder instinctively and strangely knows of the fate of their king and returns to the Soggy Throne to claim it.

Troll Marauder

Troll.png

As trolls age and gain in power they instinctually seek to overthrow Gurguth their King. Being stronger and more vicious he always wins, smashing their green flesh to a pulp. And smashing. And crushing. Pulverising them to a thin paste. But having let his rage out he leaves them to reform. Once back up and mobile, knowing they cannot defeat Gurguth, they head to the lands of the weakflesh outside of the swamp.

Accompanied by a pair of henchtrolls the Troll Marauder Group wanders the lands spreading their rot and terror, perhaps crudely emulating the likes of Orc Warbands. But if Gurguth is defeated they strangely and instinctively know and one of them will return to the marshes to take his place.

Troll Shaman

Troll red.png

Trolls are terrifying regenerating aberrations from the swamp, the elementally spiritual incarnation is the bane of even the most seasoned hunters.

Most trolls use their brute might to smash and batter their victims to death, but the shaman trollkin heal their group and cast elemental shock blasts from afar, buffing groups of attacking trolls to an outrageous degree.
