|Lore=Almost four score years ago, the undead of Deadwood came pouring into Varsilia slaughtering the farmers and shepards of the realm living nearby. The lord of the small hamlet of Kingsford, Baronet Schubert, petitioned the King for a levy of troops to guard them from the fiends, as what forces the Baronet could field had been wiped out almost to a man. Indeed, most of the fallen defenders were now in the enemy ranks as either zombies or ghosts. King Giles the First, upon hearing the request ordered a troop be dispatched immediately, however when the troop arrived it was to find that the fords near Kingsford were impassible due to heavy rains.

|ThreatRecur=
A courier was immediately dispatched back to the capital to inform the King, as well as scouts sent up and down river to see if there was a passable ford within marching distance. As this was going on, the commander of the levy, Sir Hariford, ordered his men to begin cutting down logs in an attempt to either raft across or if possible to bridge the now raging river. Sir Hariford further issued orders to the men he had within the ranks capable of using a bow to stand on the shoreline to provide covering fire, when possible, for the besieged citizens on the other side.

Meanwhile, back in the capital of New Garand, the King could see the river waters rising and feared for the safety of his people. Calling the Loremaster of the Royal Society of Loreseekers, Sages, and Alchemists into his prescence he demanded that the society assist his troops. Loremaster Geden, then bowed to his King and gathered together a small contigent of spellcasters and they began making preperations for the trip. As they worked feverishly gathering items arcana and mundane, the courier from Sir Hariford arrived, close to death from arrows received by briginds trying to rob him. The courier managed to pass his message to the guards at the gate before falling prey to his wounds. The King himself, in company with the Loreseekers as well as his best knights and their men-at-arms, set off to relieve the beleguered troop and citizens of Kingsford.

|ThreatEnv=
Back at the eastern shore of the river near Kingsford, the men had managed to timber enough logs to begin the process of building rafts, however the rains were given them much difficulty as what rope they had with them, being soaked, had become loose and weak... The could hear the screams of terror, dismay, mourning, and rage as well as the inhuman wails of the dead from the other side of the river, but visibility was so poor and conditions so bad, the men with bows could do naught but stand fast and pray to the ancestors that this cursed rain would soon stop.

As dusk fell, on the second day, the King and his retainers rode into the the troops encampment with a will. The mages and sorcerers within the Loreseeker contingent immediately took over the tasks with the logs, and using those as well as rough fieldstone pulled from the ground they began to cast an enchantment. As the spell built, the logs and stones fused into a bridge crossing the raging torrent that the river had become. No sooner was their task complete, than the King himself charged across the span on his mighty steed, sword drawn and blazing with, what others say was, righteousness and ferver. His men shouted their battlecries and followed after their liege... but alas, they arrived just as the last man defending the few remaining women and children fell. Baronet Schubert, his throat torn out and skin withered by attacks from the unnatural fiends lay dead. His man-at-arms Dryfer, was the last to fall as the King rode to succor them.

The fury of the King and his men, upon seeing the fallen and the pitiful remainder of the peaceful citizens, was great indeed. By force of arms and spell, the foul undead were destroyed or driven back whence they came. After the battle was over, the King moved amongst his people, both hale and infirm, alive and dead, and laid his hands on each, promising that their sacrifice would not be in vain. That Kingsford would not die. Instead he declared by royal decree that the infant son of Baronet Schubert, be raised to the rank of Baron, holding title to the lands around Kingsford, and that a new demense be built in front of the magically created bridge. This new town was to be known as Kingsbridge in honor of the King being the first to cross the bridge.

Kingsbridge is now the second largest city within Varsilia, and while the threat of the undead, of orcs, and bandits still loom, the people of the city have become prosperous and populous. With successful merchants, tradesmen, farmers, fishers, miners, and all of the others, the town is quite the bustling hive of activity. The Baron and his family is well-loved by all, well... most at least, of the citizens.
