Background
Steel is more expensive than iron, but steel holds a better and longer-lasting edge. The steel axe is an improvement over the iron axe in all regards, save for the iron axe's slightly higher critical chance. The cost of steel weapons and armor often distinguishes the novices from the veterans on the field of battle.
